Our mission is to empower and support veterans through equine-assisted vocational training. We are dedicated to providing a safe and nurturing environment where veterans have the opportunity to develop horsemanship skills, enhance their well-being, and re-discover purpose.

By fostering a connection between veterans and horses, we aim to assist veterans with transitioning to civilian life and reconnecting with themselves by promoting opportunities for personal growth and resilience building.

The Hope’s Heroes program stands as a testament to the profound bond between humans and horses. With unwavering commitment, the program strives to empower veterans to rediscover strength, resilience, and purpose through the healing power of working with a rescued horse companion. Together, a horse and veteran can navigate a path toward reintegration within the framework of a supportive community that offers solace, understanding, and the opportunity for a transformative connection unique to working with equines.

Please support us in collectively honoring a veteran’s service and promoting equine rehabilitation with hope, healing, and a sense of renewed purpose.

Weekend Retreats

Each year Hope’s Legacy hosts two weekend retreats for a group of veterans to come to the farm. They feed, muck, learn about equines and the benefits associated with therapeutic options. They are also able to work with the programs’ manager, a twenty-year veteran; conducting small projects around the farm. Allowing for skill building and learn how to operate and use the farm’s equipment. These projects allow the veterans to interact with other veterans and gain the benefits of equine interaction.

Thank you to our 2024 Hope’s Heroes Sponsors and proud affiliates!

Bee’s Knees

Bee’s Knees was rounded up by the HMA, in the Snowstorm Mountain range of Nevada. She eventually found her way along with roughly twenty-five other mustangs to a woman who had gotten in over her head. Maya, Kyle and Nelson, picked Bee’s Knees and four of her herd mates up from North Carolina in Jan of 2023. Upon her arrival to Hope’s Legacy Equine Rescue she was only given her food and water by Kyle; our farm manager, who is a 20-year Coast Guard veteran. These constant interaction created a bond and trust that connected them together. Over the next few months Kyle and Bee conducted hours of gentling, building trust and training. Bee’s Knees has progressed to having chiropractic work done and her feet done. Her training and trust with people continues to grow with every positive interaction. She currently is working on riding outside the round pen. Because the mustang and members of the military share such a bond; she is working as a demo horse for our veterans retreat. Bee’s Knees is exposed to new training objectives that a group of veterans learn how to work on and train with Bee’s Knees. Here, our “Hope’s Heroes” get to interact and have that equine and human interaction, that have been shown to have therapeutic benefits. Bee’s Knees is able to remain at Hope’s Legacy due to the generous contribution and donations of our supporters.

Thank you Alice and Molly McGoldrick for your generous sponsorship of Bee’s Knees
