PRESS RELEASE: HENRY J. JAVOR INTAKE BARN RIBBON CUTTING CELEBRATION AT HOPE’S LEGACY EQUINE RESCUE WITH 7th ANNUAL “HOOFIN’ IT FOR HORSES” 5K TRAIL RUN/WALK AND OPEN HOUSE

Hope’s Legacy Equine Rescue is celebrating the newest addition to our permanent home at Castle Rock Farm in Afton during our Henry J. Javor Intake Barn Ribbon Cutting at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 5, 2024 and you are invited. Learn about this first major construction project at Castle Rock Farm and the investment that Hope’s Legacy, a 501(c)(3) charity, is making in the future of Virginia’s equines through the generosity of our donors, volunteers, and supporters. This dream has become a reality as we expand our facilities to increase the farm’s capacity by up to 18 additional horses, donkeys, mules, or miniature horses each year. The barn has been carefully designed to provide high-quality care for critically ill equines and pregnant mares. Every detail of the Intake Barn has been dedicated to the future of Virginia’s equines following years of gathering feedback and insight from our team of horse care professionals including farriers, veterinarians, and trainers.
It is an event-packed day at Hope’s Legacy starting with the 7th Annual Hoofin’ It for Horses 5K Trail Run/Walk at 8:00am with all proceeds supporting the animals in our care. The horses will cheer you on as you enjoy a beautiful fall morning through our farm’s scenic trail featuring rolling hills, open fields, and shaded woods. This run/walk is open to all age groups and fitness levels, so bring yourself or gather a team for this memorable event.
After cooling down from the race, there is more for the whole family during our FREE public Open House, also on October 5. From 9:00 am to 2:00 pm, enjoy fall at the farm with food, vendors, kids’ activities, hay rides ($) and a tack sale. Watch horseshoe bending demos, enjoy games, and meet our horses and donkeys - they are waiting for you!

Time: Race Registration and number pick up begins at 7:00 am day of race.

Race Cost: Early registration is $30 for adults and $20 for 17 and under until September 19, 2024. Registration increases to $40.00 for adults and $30 for 17 and under from September 20 through October 3, 2024.

In the event of flooding, heavy rain, or thunder and lightning, registrants will be notified of any race changes the morning of October 5.
